Orientation Options

This page provides information to help you sign up for a required orientation class, along with other options. 

ALL students, including active-duty military, veterans, CalWORKs, EOPS and DESP who started Fall 2014 and beyond, are now required to comply with the California Success Act of 2012 requirements (3 core requirements: assessment, orientation and develop a preliminary educational plan) in order to receive a priority registration date for enrollment.

Take an Orientation Class

  • Apply for admission to obtain a college ID number and a registration date
  • Complete assessment before attending Couns A
  • Register for orientation - Couns A using WVCPortal

How to Search and Register for Orientation

  • Log in at: westvalley.edu/wvcportal
  • Under My Web Services, click on: Registration
  • Select: Search and Register for classes
  • Enter: Term
  • Enter: Location
  • Enter: Subject – (Counseling)
  • Enter: Course # – (000A)
  • Submit (This will bring up all we offer in that subject for that semester.)
  • Click on: the box to the left side of the course listing to choose your course.
  • Submit (This will put the course in your shopping cart.)
  • Take an action to register and submit

Non-Credit Online Orientation

Go 2 Orientation is an interactive online orientation that satisfies the requirement for priority registration.

Early Admissions (EA) Orientation Workshop

The Early Admissions Orientation provides high school seniors with an opportunity to complete free orientation and educational planning in the Spring of the senior year. Students from any high school can participate in the EA program.

Completed Orientation at Another College

Students who completed an orientation at a different college must complete all steps below:

  1. Email unofficial transcript to Leslie Pollock OR fax to 408-741-4076.
    • Transcript needs to include/document the Orientation has been successfully completed. Otherwise see Non-Credit Online Orientation option
    • For email or fax, include subject: "ORIENTATION - transcript"
  2. Schedule a counseling appointment for a student educational plan.
