Admissions Timeline

Winter/Spring 2018

1. Apply for Admission

– Oct 1 –
New College Students, Returning Students, Concurrent Enrollment, Middle College and College Advantage

  • Students returning after 1 academic year must re-apply for Admission.
  • Student ID#s will always remain the same.
  • If you do not received a Student ID# within 24 hours, contact the Admissions Office.

2. Apply for Financial Aid

After applying for financial aid, log into the Student Portal. Under Financial Aid, check your Award Letter and Documents for any further action required.

3. Schedule Assessment Tests 

OR
Submit Transcripts/AP Test Scores to the Assessment Office to clear prerequisites
Include your WVC student ID#, phone # and specify the class you want to enter.
Prerequisites must be cleared prior to registering for a class.

4. Register and Complete an Orientation   

Orientation is required to receive priority registration and is recommended for all new matriculating college students.

7. Register for Classes Priority Registration Dates

All students can locate their assigned registration date in the Student Portal. Under Registration, click on: My Registration Date.

8. Pay Registration Fees

Payment Options:
Option 1  –  Pay in full at time of registration    

– Online, through the Student Portal
OR    
– In person, at the Admissions Office

Option 2  –  Create a Nelnet Payment Plan – West Valley College has partnered with  
Nelnet to make enrollment expenses more affordable.   
– Go to: http://mycollegepaymentplan.com/wvmc  to begin your payment plan.
OR
– Log in to the Student Portal – Click on: Student > Student Account > Nelnet Payment Options.

9. Concurrent Enrollment (High School Students) – Registration Begins:

    Winter Session  

   Seniors   12/12/17    3pm – 5pm
   Juniors   12/13/17    3pm – 5pm
    Spring Semester     Seniors    1/17/18    3pm – 5pm
   Juniors    1/18/17    3pm – 5pm


10. Purchase Your Books

Prior to the first day of class, view the required and recommended materials for your classes from the Viking Bookstore. Click on: Purchase Textbooks online. Then, enter the course information. 

11. Obtain a Parking Permit

Purchase a parking permit online or in the Admissions Office prior to the beginning of the semester to avoid a parking violation.

14. Add and Drop Classes Before the Deadline
