DESP: Rights and Responsibilities of Faculty and Students

What are the rights of students with disabilities under federal and state law? Do students have responsibilities as well? What does this mean for faculty working with students in their classrooms and the accommodations for which they are eligible? DESP staff will provide an overview of the rights and responsibilities of both the student with a disability and instructors who have that student class. Further, the DESP Online Services will be showcased from both the student and the faculty user perspective.

Academic Senate: State and Local Initiatives

This session will focus on the local and statewide Academic Senate activities and initiatives. Academic President Gretchen Ehlers will review WVC Senate activities from last semester and goals moving forward. VP Cynthia Reiss will summarize State Senate activities and positions on current legislation.

Trans* and Gender Non-Conforming Inclusion on Campus

This session will focus on the experience of Trans* and Gender Non-Conforming students on campus. The session will have three components: 1) understanding trans* and gender non- conforming identities, 2) issues faced by these students, and 3) how faculty and staff can create more inclusive spaces.
